JAMES TICHENOR

An Architect by training James worked for design firms in New York on residential, commercial and exhibition design projects. In 2002 James returned to school at MIT to research issues of architectural surfaces with digitally manipulated materials. His research focused on how designers can leverage a knowledge of materiality to exploit the new possibilities of physical prototyping devices, in order to escape the division between designer and technologist and move into the role of craftsman. In his work he seeks to explore the aesthetics of the psychedelic and the transcendental. He is currently studying interaction design at the Interaction Design Institute Ivrea in Italy.
