Curated by Owkwi Enwezer (Documenta 11), this exhibition looks at the past century of African art and its relationship to the liberation movements of Africa. The exhibition is a mix of historical and contemporary art, of high art and ephemeral objects, and of mediums ranging from painting to film to sound. The exhibition was designed to have in a clear identity in the multitude of setting it traveled to from the Villa Stuck in Munich to the ICA in Chicago to PS1 New York to Washington DC, and finally ending in Johannesburg, South Africa. | |||||||||
