    INDEX

A prototype of a surface that can change opacity via computer control. An 1/8 inch space is created between two sheets of plastic. In this space Styrofoam pellets are able to move freely. Using high voltage (12,000 volts) / low current static electricity the position of the Styrofaom in a pixel array is controlled. An ideal version would be built to an architectural scale with the indium tin evaporatively deposited on the surface of the plastic. Credits: this project originated in a class on industrial design (Professor Ted Selker) at Mit Media Lab 2003.
