Research into a physical pixel array display. The project uses the kitsch element of a party cocktail umbrella to create a computer display. Shape memory alloy actuator wires are used to open and close the umbrellas. In this way the project is able to remain elegant and minimal. Allowing the user to see straight through the project when the umbrellas are close d . The slow smooth movement of the shape memory alloys gives the umbrellas the appearance of sea anemones.
